TESOL Society of Bangladesh (TSB) and the Department of English Studies at State University of Bangladesh (SUB) organized the inaugural session of the Distinguished Lecture Series on 16th October 2021. The objective of this series is to provide a platform for renowned experts and scholars to share their insights and expertise with the academic community. The session, conducted via Zoom and streamed live on Facebook, featured a workshop on “The Teaching of English Literature: Contemporary Methods and Approaches,” facilitated by Dr. Mashrur Shahid Hossain, Professor, Department of English at Jahangirnagar University.
Dr. Hossain’s workshop offered valuable insights into the latest methods and approaches used in teaching English literature. The event began with an introduction to the Department of English Studies at SUB, emphasizing its commitment to quality education and academic excellence. This was followed by an overview of the “Distinguished Lecture Series,” outlining its objectives and highlighting the esteemed speakers who will contribute to future sessions.
Professor Dr. Sayeedur Rahman, Advisor of the Department of English Studies at SUB, graced the event as a special guest and delivered a thought-provoking speech. Dr. Rahman emphasized the importance of such lecture series in fostering intellectual discourse and knowledge dissemination within the academic community.
The inaugural session was further honored by the presence of Professor Ali Ahsan, Dean of the School of Business and Social Sciences at SUB, who served as the chief guest. Professor Ahsan delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the significance of creating an environment conducive to intellectual growth and exchange at the university.
At the end of the workshop, participants engaged in an interactive question-and-answer session, providing further exploration and clarification of the discussed topics. The session concluded with a vote of thanks to the distinguished guests, speakers, and participants for their valuable contributions to the event.
