TESOL Society Bangladesh organized its 7th Webinar session on “Written Corrective Feedback (WCF) on student writing” which revolved around the arguments over the effectiveness of WFC in improving the quality of students’ written production of language. In the speaker panel we had Aida McLeod (Education Researcher and Former Teacher, Southeast European University) & Ian McLeod (Co-founder and Founding Editor of Oxford Literary Review). Dr. Sabrina Ahmed (BRAC University) moderated the session. The speakers discussed the declarative and procedural knowledge in validating the arguments over WCF and its effectiveness to achieve the ultimate goal of automatization and to ensure learner’s autonomy. In the further discussion over the manageability and responsibility, questions were accounted about when to provide feedbacks and what should be the extent and the level of explicitness of these feedbacks. The discussion later informed about different types of CF strategies, including the use of error codes and peer feedback.
