TESOL Society of Bangladesh conducted an Academic Adda on “Online Assessments during COVID-19: Challenges and Possibilities”. The discussant board included Dr. Manzoorul Abedin (University of Cambridge), Dr. Sayeedur Rahman (University of Dhaka), Hamidul Haque (Department of English, AIUB), Md. Tareekul Haq (Jhenaidah Cadet College), S M Tahmina (G K Model High School) and Muhammad Emdadul Haque (Dhaka Uttor Mohammadpur High School). This event was moderated by Rabeya Binte Habib from Daffodil International University. The event reviewed the respective online teaching experiences of the speakers, the assessment systems adopted in-home and abroad contexts, challenges and possibilities of the online assessment system. Despite discussing major constraints of the online assessment, on a positive note, the speakers suggested different strategies and tools beyond the availability of traditional high-stake sit-down and pen-and-paper tests to ensure the adaptability with online education, assessment and endless possibility of collaborations and support from the colleagues.
